The State has extended agreements with three Canadian pharmacies to provide prescription drugs over the internet.
A report received by Governor Doyle today states the three companies the state works with are providing safe prescriptions and working within the boundaries of the agreement.
Wisconsin set up a state website in 2004 that allows residents to order prescription drugs directly from Canada.
The Governor says more than 8,000 prescriptions worth more than a million dollars have been filled so far.
The inspection team included people from the Wisconsin departments of health and family services and regulations and licensing.
"We observed every step from the point someone answers the phone and takes an order to the point it's shipped out the door," says Secretary Helene Nelson of the Wisconsin Department of Health and Family Services. "We looked at all of the areas of their business-the physical plant and the processes and computer systems."
The new two year contracts expire in May of 2008.
